It’s a fresh and brand new year now! How is it that 2018 flew by so quickly?
But, with this time of year comes lots and lots of germs. It seems like everyone tends to get sick when the weather gets cold. Our family was no exception this go around. First our toddler came down with a tummy bug, and passed it to me…and then my husband got it too. Finally it passed from our house to his granny and aunt. Sorry guys! Not long after that we all came down with colds. Not. Fun.
We were in full on survival mode for most of December. And it actually wasn’t all that bad.
Even in survival mode when I was doing the bare minimum to keep the household going…it still wasn’t overwhelming. There’s honestly just not much left for it to get too crazy around here. Even if all of the toys are scattered it’s easily put away in 5-10 minutes (depending on if the toddler is “helping” 😂). If all of the laundry is dirty I can get it all washed again in a couple of loads. Even if all of the dishes are dirty, one run of the dishwasher and hand washing a few pans solves it.
Simple living has given me that. We have just enough, and not a lot of excess. We kept the things we either truly use or that we love. And it’s enough. It’s more than enough really.
Let this encourage you! It’s possible for you to feel content and satisfied in your home too. Life doesn’t have to be a rat race of constantly consuming and buying more more more. Let 2019 be a different kind of year. Try letting go of things more than you buy. I bet it’ll make a world of difference for you like it did for me.
If you’re overwhelmed and don’t know where to start…just take a deep breath, think of what bothers you the most about your home and start there. You don’t have to do it all at once and it doesn’t have to be all or nothing. 5 minutes. One drawer. A quick pass over the toy box. It doesn’t matter how much or where…just start. You got this!
Cliche or not it is a new year and a fresh start. Tell me, what do you want out of this brand new year?
