Keeping a tidy home is easier than it sounds I promise! I’ve got a few tricks up my sleeve on how I’m able to generally keep our home in a state of calm even with a toddler who loves “undoing” things and running amok! Are you ready to hear some easy ways to keep your home a little tidier?
Make your bed.
I know, I know. I sound like your mother. But it’s actually super helpful in keeping your home tidy! It sets the tone for the day and you start your morning having accomplished something! It starts that motivation and helps give you the encouragement you need to keep that going through the whole day. Plus, a bed that is made makes the entire room look neater and since you took the effort to do it, you’re much less likely to make your bed a landing pad for all of the stuff you don’t feel like dealing with. Because you’re proud of it!
Don’t just set things down.
It’s so easy for things to get cluttered if you just set things down instead of putting them away. I typically tell myself if it will take less than a minute to put it away, it’s worth the time to do it right then. I think we feel like it’ll take so much longer than it actually does and so we avoid it. If something in your house doesn’t have a true home it’s time to give it one or give it the boot.
Open your curtains.
Sunshine pouring in your windows automatically makes a space feel larger and fresher. It gives a space an automatic facelift and makes my mood instantly better. I love how bright and cheerful a room feels with the curtains open and the daylight just streaming in.
Switch things up!
If you’re bored with how things look it’s easy to become dissatisfied which just makes it harder to find the will to keep a tidy home. So give yourself permission to move things around. Take that throw pillow from the couch and see how it looks on your bed. Pop a different photo in that cute frame you have hanging up. Simple changes can freshen things up and suddenly you may just enjoy tidying a little bit more than you did yesterday!
